Terms
Terms of use.

1. Who runs Worldfarer
Worldfarer is an editorial trip-planning service operated by Sam Poate as a sole trader in the United Kingdom ("Worldfarer", "we", "us", "our"). It comprises this website, the related APIs, and the tools you can sign in to.
By using Worldfarer you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use it.
2. What Worldfarer is
Worldfarer helps small groups plan trips. You enter a destination and some notes, and we draft a structured plan with a recommended window, length, indicative budget, day-by-day skeleton, and citations against travel writing we've ingested. You can keep trips private, share them with collaborators, or generate a read-only public link.
Worldfarer is a planning tool. It does not book flights, hotels, tours, or permits, and is not a travel agent.
3. Your account
You must be at least 18 to create an account. Provide accurate information when you sign up. Keep your sign-in email secure. Worldfarer signs you in by magic link or via Google or Apple, we never store a password.
While Worldfarer is in closed beta we may restrict sign-ups to an allowlist. We may suspend or close accounts that breach these Terms, with notice where reasonable.
4. Pricing
Worldfarer is free during the closed beta. We may introduce paid plans in future. If we do, we'll give you at least 30 days' notice before charging anything and you'll be able to keep using your existing trips as a free account if you prefer.
5. Your content and your data
You own what you create. Trips, notes, journal entries, share links, and the source URLs you paste into Worldfarer are yours. We don't claim rights over them beyond what we need to run the service.
By using Worldfarer you grant us a non-exclusive licence to host, process, and display your content to you and to the people you choose to share it with. That licence ends when you delete the content or close your account.
If you mark a trip as discoverable or generate a public share link, that trip's content (excluding your private notes) becomes readable by anyone with the link, including search engines and unauthenticated visitors. Undo it by revoking the link or unflagging the trip.
You can export your trips at any time from your profile. After account deletion you have 30 days to recover content before we remove it from our backups.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use Worldfarer to break any law, infringe anyone's rights, or harass anyone.
- Probe, scrape, or attack the service or attempt to bypass rate limits, auth checks, or the share-link model.
- Use the plan-generation features to produce content that defames, deceives, or promotes harm to people, communities, or protected places.
- Resell or sublicence access to Worldfarer to anyone else.
- Upload images you don't have the right to share, or link to sources whose terms forbid it.
7. AI-generated plans and citations
Plans are generated by AI (Anthropic Claude, routed via the Vercel AI Gateway) drawing on a corpus of travel writing we and our users ingest. We do our best to attribute facts to their sources inline, and to validate that every cited URL resolves. The output is still generated text and can be wrong, outdated, or misleading.
Treat Worldfarer plans as a starting point, not gospel. Verify anything that matters, visa rules, vaccination requirements, seasonality, permits, prices, against an authoritative source before relying on it.
We do not use your prompts or trip content to train any foundation model. The AI provider tiers we use are configured to not retain your inputs for model training.
8. Third-party services
Worldfarer runs on infrastructure and tooling we don't operate. The current set includes Vercel (web), Railway (API), Neon (database), Resend (email), better-auth (sign-in), Google and Apple (OAuth), Anthropic and OpenAI (AI inference, via Vercel AI Gateway), MapLibre with ESRI World Imagery and OpenFreeMap (maps), PostHog (analytics), and Sentry (error tracking).
When the service is unavailable, sometimes the reason is one of them rather than us. We're responsible for keeping Worldfarer working as a whole; we are not liable for outages, errors, or behaviour of those underlying providers.
9. Availability
We aim for Worldfarer to be up and useful most of the time, but we don't promise it'll be available every minute of the day. We may take it down for maintenance, ship breaking changes during the beta, or pause features that aren't working well.
We will give reasonable notice before removing a feature you've been relying on. Beta features are marked as such and may change or disappear without notice.
10. Disclaimers and liability
Worldfarer is provided as is. To the extent allowed by law, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
Our total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of Worldfarer is capped at the amount you've paid us in the 12 months before the claim. During the closed beta that figure is £0.
Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or anything else that cannot be limited under UK law.
11. Changes
We may update these Terms. When we make a material change we'll note it on this page and, if you have an account, send you an email. Continued use after the change date means you accept the update.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, except that we can both seek urgent injunctive relief anywhere.
